Illustrator
Illustrator is a vector graphics editor. Illustrator allows for the user to make everything from single design elements to full designs. Designers use Illustrator to create posters, symbols, logos, patterns, icons, etc. A vector image describe a graphic according to its geometric characteristics. While a raster image is a ton of individual pixels put together to make an image.
Process of using the laser:
- 1) Go to Illustrator and make a new drawing.
- 2) What do the colors
- A) Red: Red means cut. What ever is outlined in red the laser reads it as what you want to cut out.
- B) Black/Dark Grey: The black lines tell the laser that you want to etch out the art that you have.
- 3) To get the designs outlined in the colors you have to make them form a normal picture to a vector image.
- 4) Finally you have to go to the laser and upload the Illustrator image and make sure that it is in the right place so the it is cutting on your material.
Step by Step Process:
1) Go in to Illustrator and make a new document.
2) Write your name and find a cool font.
3) Make the text into a vector image.
4) Make the out line of the image red(to cut it out).
5) Go down to the vinyl cuter and find a pretty color:)
6) Go the the computer next to the cuter and position your name to make sure that you use the least vinyl you can.
When you have your vinyl cut out:
1) Cut out your name.
2) Use the pic to get rid of the extra vinyl.
3) Use the tap to move the vinyl to the text book.
4) Use the squeegee to make sure that the vinyl sticks to the book and not the tap.
5) Finally use the pick to touch up any mess ups.

What I learned
I learned a lot about Illustrator and what the different colors meant. When use Illustrator there are two types of pictures, one a raster and one a vector. You want to use vector images on Illustrator because they are a smooth picture. This makes it so that the laser and cuter, cut a smooth line. The different colors make the laser do different things. One is the red outline of the image will make the laser cut out what is in red. The black/dark grey makes the laser engrave the image onto a material. When using the vinyl cuter you want to use only the red because you can't engrave vinyl. When applying a vinyl decal you have to use the tape to transfer the decal to to object you want it on. To make this easier, use the squeegee to press the vinyl onto the tap and the object that it is going on.
